Google finally enters the music arena on the web! On the 28th of October 2009, Google launched their music service, which is also referred as Google Audio. Google claims, this new service will enable users to search for music on the web faster and more efficiently.
The highlight of Google Audio is on its unique search style. Users can search for songs they prefer by typing in the singer, song tittle, album tittle and even part of the song's lyrics. The first search result will include a link, which enables users to listen direct to their song on the web, before downloading it. Complete songs are available, unlike the past 30 seconds style, which has pissed off users time by time. ( Of course, some songs are also available in 30 second clips only. ) Here's a not yet confirmed screenshot from TechCrunch.
Songs are provided by partners of Google Audio, such as ILike and Lala. After deciding the song you want, users can easily follow the links provided to complete their purchase and download their songs.
Google hopes, by launching Google Audio, more people will be encouraged to make Google their primary search engine on the web, over Yahoo and MSN. Because songs are directly provided by partners of Google Audio, Google has escaped the hustle on copyright problems. To partners such as Lala and ILike, the launching of Google Audio is a stepping stone to increase their web traffic and also, their sales number.
